Jsem milovníkem přírodních živlů. Od malička mě fascinují silné větry, tornáda, hurikány, užívám si bouří (pokud v nich zrovna nestojím), sleduji zemětřesení a také sopky! Ani netušíte, jak moc mě tyto hory chrlící lávu fascinují. Navštívila jsem Vesuv, byla jsem v národním parku na Lanzarote, kde je podloží stále aktivní, byla jsem u aktivní sopky na Santorini, byla jsem u Teide a teď KONEČNĚ byla na řadě ETNA. Ani nevíte, jak jsem toužila vidět červený proud tryskající z kráteru naživo.
I am a lover of natural forces. Since childhood, I’ve been fascinated by strong winds, tornadoes, hurricanes, and I enjoy storms (as long as I’m not standing in the middle of one). I follow earthquakes and volcanoes too! You can’t even imagine how much these lava-spewing mountains captivate me. I’ve visited Vesuvius, explored the national park on Lanzarote, where the ground is still active, stood by an active volcano on Santorini, and visited Teide. And now, FINALLY, it was time for ETNA. You have no idea how much I longed to see the red lava flow erupting from the crater with my own eyes.
Celý červenec i začátek srpna byla velmi aktivní. Bohužel nás její aktivita přesně o den minula a akorát její popel zkomplikoval celý začátek dovolené. Ryanair nás místo do Catanie, kde jsme měli koupené ubytování i se snídaní, odvezl do Palerma. A jak to už u této letecké společnosti bývá, plná huba keců a skutek utekl! Slibovali, že pro nás pošlou shuttle, a my naivně čekali tak dlouho, že ani běžné spoje do Catanie už nejely. A tak jsme v noci narychlo řešili ubytování v jednom z nejnebezpečnějších měst v Evropě.
Throughout July and early August, it was very active. Unfortunately, we missed its activity by just one day, and instead, its ash disrupted the start of our vacation. Ryanair flew us to Palermo instead of Catania, where we had already booked accommodation with breakfast. And as is often the case with this airline, they were full of big promises, but their actions didn’t follow. They assured us they were sending a shuttle, and we naively waited so long that even the regular connections to Catania had stopped running. So, late at night, we had to quickly arrange accommodation in one of the most dangerous cities in Europe.
V Catanii jsme měli ubytování v centru, kousek od ulice Via Etnea, a ano, byl z ní výhled na Etnu. Naprosto jsme si město užívali – příjemné počasí, ruch, světla, živo. Na výběr snad z tisíce restaurací, osvětlené uličky, a i památek bylo poměrně dost na to, abychom se nemuseli nikam přesouvat. Dokonce i k moři jsme došli pěšky. Nicméně mně to nestačilo, a tak jsem vymyslela několik výletů. První byl na ETNU (více v dalším článku).
In Catania, we stayed in the city center, close to Via Etnea, and yes, it had a view of Etna. We thoroughly enjoyed the city – pleasant weather, hustle and bustle, lights, and lively streets. There were countless restaurants to choose from, well-lit alleys, and enough historical sites to explore without needing to go anywhere else. We even walked to the sea. But for me, that wasn’t enough, so I planned several trips. The first one was to ETNA (more about that in the next article).
